The North Greenville Trailblazers advanced to the winner's bracket of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional with a 6-3 victory over the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College in Salisbury, North Carolina. NGU book ended the game with three runs in the 1st and three runs in the 9th. North Greenville took an early lead in the 1st inning when
Alton Gyselman hit a two-RBI single to left field. Young Harris was also able to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 1st with a run scored.
Josh Foulks also added a run to the scoreboard with an RBI single up the middle. After a scoreless 2nd inning, Young Harris added two runs with a home run to tie the game at 3-3. Pitching would take over the game as the next five innings would go scoreless, with
Matty Brown pitching 6.2 innings and
Thomas Skipper pitching the end of the 7th and the first two out of the 8th inning. With the bases loaded,
Gideon Antle cleared the bases in the top of the 9th with a three-RBI double to left field to put NGU up by three.
Matthew Taubensee, who entered the game to pitch the final out of the 8th inning pitched a scoreless 9th inning to secure the win. North Greenville advances to the winner's bracket of the regional.
Brett Blomquist went two for three at the plate, recording a double and a run scored.
Thomas Powell posted two hits, a run scored, and a walk.
Gideon Antle came through with a bases-clearing double in the 9th inning, finishing with three RBIs, a walk, and a run scored.
North Greenville will face the Catawba College Indians tomorrow at 6:00 PM in Salisbury, North Carolina.
