Greenville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers were victorious at Fluor Field at the West End in Greenville, South Carolina with a 9-2 victory over the Bearcats of Lander University. Things got off to a slow start for the Trailblazers as they would trail 1-0 when the Bearcats scored in the 2nd inning. NGU would not score until the 5th inning, which came on an RBI single by
Bryce Roddey.
Gideon Antle would give North Greenville its first lead in the 6th when a single resulted in an error that allowed a run to score. Lander would tie things up with a run in the 7th, but the Trailblazers would quickly reclaim the lead in the 8th with a five run inning including a bases-clearing double by
Landon Peavy and RBI singles by
Tristan Salinas and
Landon Shaw. Two insurance runs would be scored in the 9th by way of a bases-loaded walk by
Alton Gyselman and an RBI groundout by
Thomas Powell.
Matthew Taubensee closed things out with a scoreless 9th inning.
Caleb Cox, who pitched the 7th inning was the winning pitcher.
Josh Foulks went three for four at the plate with a double and a run scored.
Thomas Powell posted two hits including a double as well as two runs scored and an RBI.
Bryce Roddey also posted two hits including a double along with an RBI.
NGU will face the Saints of Limestone College on Friday, April 11th in Gaffney, South Carolina.
