Trailblazers Take Weekend Doubleheader Against Limestone

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers won both games in a weekend non conference doubleheader against the Saints of Limestone University, dominating game one for a 13-5 win then completing a low-scoring come from behind victory with a final score of 2-1 at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. With the pair of wins, NGU improved their record to 36-8 for the season. Matty Brown took the mound for game one of the doubleheader. NGU was quick to get on the board as Bryce Roddey would score on a wild pitch. Afterwards, Tristan Salinas hit a solo shot to right center to put the Trailblazers up 2-0. The Saints were able to respond with two runs in the top of the 2nd. However, the middle innings would see the Trailblazers pull away with five runs in the 3rd including a two-RBI single by Josh Foulks and an RBI double by Alton Gyselman. In the 4th, Landon Shaw would homer to left field and Gideon Antle would record an RBI single to increase the NGU lead to seven. A four run 5th inning included an RBI triple by Josh Williams and a two-run home run by Josh Foulks. After a scoreless 6th inning, Limestone would end their scoreless drought with three runs in the 7th. Kadan Roach would pitch the final inning to secure the win. Matty Brown was the winning pitcher. Brody Fowler was the starting pitcher for game two. The two starting pitchers would keep the game scoreless until the 6th, when Limestone was able to get the first run on the board with an RBI single. NGU would respond in the 8th inning with an RBI double by Gideon Antle as well as an RBI single by Thomas Powell to take a 2-1 lead. Matthew Taubensee, who entered the game in the top of the 8th, would pitch 2.0 scoreless innings to record the win.

Gideon Antle finished an impressive day with five hits including a double, three RBIs, and two runs. Josh Foulks posted three hits including a home run in addition to four RBIs and two runs scored. Brody Fowler put together a quality start on the mound, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing just one run on four hits and no walks while striking out seven.

North Greenville will face the Flames of Lee University on Tuesday, April 15th in Cleveland, Tennessee.
