North Greenville Overcomes Late Rally to Defeat North Georgia

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers survived a late rally by the nationally-ranked Nighthawks of the University of North Georgia, hanging on for a 14-10 victory at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. NGU pulled away early, scoring three runs in the 1st, two runs in the 2nd, and an additional run in the 3rd. All but one of those runs scored on RBI singles including a two-RBI single by Tristan Salinas and Gideon Antle. The Trailblazers would open things up even further with three runs in the 4th and three additional runs in the 5th including a two-RBI double by Brett Blomquist. UNG would get on the board in the 6th inning with two runs. Gideon Antle would respond in the bottom of the inning with a home run to left center. The Nighthawks scored with a home run of their own in the top of the 7th. An RBI single by Josh Williams scored a run in the bottom of the 7th to keep the lead at eleven. After scoring a run in the 8th, North Georgia would put a scare into the Trailblazers by scoring six runs in the 9th inning including a grand slam. However, Evan Loeser would record the final out to end the rally. Jake Monroe pitched the first five innings and was the winning pitcher.

Bryce Roddey was perfect at the plate with a five for five performance including a double. He scored four runs and collected an RBI. Gideon Antle recorded three hits including a home run and posted four RBIs, two runs scored, and a walk. Brett Blomquist finished with two hits including a double, four RBIs, two runs scored, and a walk.

NGU will face the Bearcats of Lander University tomorrow at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina.
