The North Greenville Trailblazers left Mount Olive, North Carolina with three wins after completing the sweep with an 8-5 victory against the Mount Olive Trojans. With the win, the Trailblazers improved their conference record to 17-7 with a 32-8 overall record.
Brody Fowler recorded his 6th win of the season after pitching 6.0 strong innings without allowing an earned run. NGU took an early lead when
Landon Peavy hit an RBI single in the top of the 2nd. UMO tied things up with a run in the bottom of the 3rd, but after North Greenville reclaimed the lead in the 4th with a sacrifice fly by
Thomas Powell, the big inning would come in the 5th inning as six runs came in to score including a two-RBI double by
Alton Gyselman and an RBI triple by
Thomas Powell. Mount Olive would draw back within four with a three run 7th inning, but
Caleb Cox and
Matthew Taubensee would pitch the 8th and 9th innings to secure the win.
Thomas Powell posted two runs including a triple and recorded two RBIs and two runs scored.
Alton Gyselman also finished with two hits, both of them doubles as well as two runs and two RBIs.
Brody Fowler pitched 6.0 strong innings, allowing just six hits and a walk while recording five strikeouts. He did not allow an earned run.
NGU will face the Nighthawks of the University of North Georgia at Ray & Bea Dillard Field on Tuesday, April 8th.
