The North Greenville Trailblazers captured their first-ever Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship by defeating the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College with a final score of 6-5 in Mount Olive, North Carolina. The closely-contested match resulted in the largest lead of the game being just two. Belmont Abbey was the first to get on the board with an early goal. North Greenville would even up the score with a goal by
Hayden Moffat and an assist by
Yates Miller with just under five minutes remaining in the 1st quarter. NGU would claim their first lead of the game with two goals early on in the 2nd quarter with unassisted goals by
Jackson Reich, putting the Trailblazers up 3-1. However, BAC responded with three goals throughout the remainder of the half to take a 4-3 lead into halftime. North Greenville would start off the second half with
Jackson Reich's third goal of the game to tie the score at 4-4. Midway through the 3rd quarter,
Hayden Moffat put the Trailblazers back up front with a goal. With just under six minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, Belmont Abbey would tie things up once again with a goal to make the score 5-5.
Aydan Sizemore would make his presence known with a goal late in the game. NGU turned to defense, allowing just one more shot by the Crusaders. A turnover with less than a minute remaining would prove to be enough for North Greenville as they would successfully keep the ball away from Belmont Abbey to hang on for the victory. The win improves North Greenville's overall record to 12-5.
Jackson Reich finished the tournament with a three goal performance in addition to a caused turnover and a ground ball.
Hayden Moffat posted two goals of his own along with a ground ball.
