NGU Wins Series With Saturday Split With King

Bristol, TN – North Greenville split a double-header with King University on Saturday with an 8 – 3 win in game one. The Tornado took a 9 – 4 decision in game two. The game one win secured the series win for the Trailblazers. 
 
North Greenville took a 5 – 1 lead after four innings in game one, using a four run fourth to put some space between NGU and the Tornado. Bryce Roddey and Thomas Powell delivered RBI doubles during the frame while Landon Shaw also delivered an RBI with a single. Brett Blomquist delivered some insurance for the Trailblazers in the sixth inning with an RBI single to left field that brought around two runs. Gideon Antle also got in on the action with run scoring sac fly in the same frame. 
The Tornado added a pair of runs in the sixth inning, but starter Brody Fowler was able to avoid any more damage while Oliver Adams pitched a perfect seventh frame to secure the series clinching win. Bryce Roddey led NGU at the plate going 4 – 5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Blomquist led NGU with three RBI. 
 
The Tornado jumped out to a seven-run lead in game two scoring three runs in the first and another four runs in the second inning. The Trailblazers tried to mount a comeback in the ninth inning scoring three runs but the Tornado escaped with its lone win of the weekend. 
 
Next Up 
North Greenville's final regular season mid-week game will be at North Georgia on Tuesday evening at 5 PM.
