The North Greenville Trailblazers were able to take an early lead and pull away further late in the game, leading to a 9-1 victory over the Tornado of King University in Bristol, Tennessee. Things began with a five run 1st inning for NGU including a bases-clearing single by
Gideon Antle. Pitching would handle the remaining early and middle innings as six consecutive innings went scoreless, with
Matty Brown handling things on the mound for NGU. In the top of the 8th, an RBI triple by Landon Show and a sacrifice fly by
Bryce Roddey added to the North Greenville lead. A solo shot to left field as well as an RBI single by
Landon Peavy increased the lead to nine. King would get on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the 9th, but that would be it for the Tornado as the Trailblazers would easily hang on for a sizeable win.
Matty Brown was the winning pitcher while
Connor Brinson pitched the remaining two innings.
Gideon Antle posted three hits including a home run as well as four RBIs and two runs scored.
Landon Shaw went two for three at the plate including a triple as well as two walks, an RBI , and a run scored.
Thomas Powell hit a triple of his own and recorded two runs scored.
The two teams will face each other in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM tomorrow in Bristol, Tennessee.
