Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers completed a sweep of the previously nationally-ranked Tusculum Pioneers with a game one final score of 4-3 and a game two final score of 11-1 at Jan McDonald Field. A pitchers' duel in the first game began with two scoreless innings. Tusculum would get on the board in the 3rd by way of a three-run home run. However,
Maddie Stone would get the Trailblazers on the board with a solo home run in the 4th. That was followed by a two-run home run by
Emily Blackwell in the 5th. After a scoreless 6th and top of the 7th,
Emily Blackwell would hit a lead off single to get on base. With the help of a stolen base,
Karley Green would single to right field, bringing in Blackwell for the walk off victory.
Kylie Rast pitched a complete game and earned the win. Game two proved to be a different story as North Greenville would pull away early. After scoring one run in the 1st, NGU would score six runs in the 2nd including two-run singles by
Jordan Slocum and
Ari Day. Tusculum would get on the board in the 3rd, but North Greenville would respond with a run in the bottom of the inning and score three additional runs in the bottom of the 4th including an RBI double by
Ali Hartin.
Sydney Clark finished her complete game with a scoreless 5th inning to end things early due to the run rule.
Emily Blackwell posted five hits including a home run in addition to six runs and three RBIs.
Karley Green recorded three hits including a double as well as two RBIs.
Sydney Clark pitched a complete game with 5.0 innings pitched. She allowed just one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three.
NGU will face the Lions of Emmanuel University on Thursday, April 17th at Jan McDonald Field.
