Spartanburg, S.C. – North Greenville split with Converse University on Friday 16 – 0 and 4 – 11 in a Conference Carolinas double – header.
NGU scored in all five innings of game one, scoring at least two runs in all but one of those five frames. The Trailblazers did all of their damage on nine hits including three extra base hits.
Ari Day delivered one of those extra base knocks with a double that brought around three runs in the second inning.
Lexie Metcalf hit a two run homer in the fourth inning while
Emily Dawson's three run blast in the seventh inning to cap the scoring for North Greenville.
Ari Day led NGU in game one with two hits and five RBI. She also scored two runs. Asnley Fowler went 2 – 2 with two runs and two RBI.
Lexie Metcalf also finished 2 – 2 with two runs and four RBI.
Emily Dawson finished 1 – 3 with her home run.
Kylie Rast added another win to her record as a starter and is now 7 – 1 on the season.
NGU's bats cooled off in the second game as the Valkyries struck first with five runs after two frames. The Trailblazers battled back in the fourth when
Maddie Stone and
Karley Green belted back – to – back solo homers.
Emily Blackwell added an RBI single later in the frame to pull the Blazers to within two. North Greenville added one run in the sixth inning on an RBI walk but the Valkyries tacked on three more in each of the fourth and sixth innings while limiting NGU's offense.
