The North Greenville Trailblazers improved to 3-1 on the season after a dominant day led to a sweep of the Trojans of Anderson University with final scores of 11-5 and 13-5 in Anderson, South Carolina. NGU combined for eight extra-base hits throughout the afternoon, with seven resulting in doubles and one resulting in a home run. Game one saw North Greenville take an early lead and consistently pull away as the innings went by as only the 4th inning did not result in at least one run by the Trailblazers.
Karley Green went on to pitch a complete game to earn the win. After a scoreless inning to begin game two, NGU was able to get the offense going with five runs in the 2nd inning including a home run by
Lexie Metcalf. The runs continued in the 3rd inning as the Trailblazers scored five more runs, although Anderson did respond in the bottom of the inning with five runs of their own. Three insurance runs scored in the 5th inning, and
Kylie Rast, who pitched the final two innings, was able to retire the final out in the form of a strikeout to secure the win.
Sydney Clark was the winning pitcher.
Emily Dawson finished the day with six hits including two doubles as well as three runs scored and two RBIs.
Karley Green posted five hits including two doubles, four runs, and three RBIs. She also pitched a complete game, allowing five runs on twelve hits and three walks while striking out five.
Lexie Metcalf hit a home run and recorded a total of four hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored.
NGU will face the Pacers of USC Aiken on Saturday, February 8th at Jan McDonald Field.
