Jefferson City, TN – North Greenville softball suffered a non-conference sweep to Carson Newman on Tuesday, falling to the Eagles 11 – 2 and 6 – 2.
Carson Newman pitching kept North Greenville's bats a bay for a majority of the day on Tuesday. In game one North Greenville pounded out seven hits but stranded nine runners including leaving the bases loaded twice. North Greenville's two runs came in the second inning on an
Ali Hartin single which scored
Sydney Price and
Ansley Fowler.
The Eagles which still led by a run after scoring two of their own runs in the second responded later with five in the third and three more in the fourth to run-rule the Trailblazers.
NGU found itself in a hole early in game two when the Eagles scored six runs in the third inning. The Blazers got a pair of RBI from
Ali Hartin with a pair of RBI doubles in the fifth in seven innings accounting for both of NGU's runs.
Hartin finished the day with three hits and four RBI.
Emily Blackwell led North Greenville with five total hits and a run scored. He was 3 – 4 in game two.
