NGU Falls to Lincoln Memorial

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers faced a deficit early on and ultimately fell to the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University with a final score of 14-6 on a cold and rainy afternoon at Pepsi Stadium. LMU pulled away early, scoring the first five goals of the match. NGU did cap off the 1st quarter with goals by Kylie Keen and Katie Keller to pull back within three. The Railsplitters opened the lead back up by scoring three of the next four goals, with North Greenville's goal by Kylie Keen. After an additional goal by Lincoln Memorial, North Greenville responded by closing out the half with goals by Caroline Rider and Kylie Keen to trail by just three at halftime. However, LMU thoroughly controlled the second half, scoring four consecutive goals to open up the lead to seven. Kayla Harris ended the drought with a goal for NGU, but the Railsplitters ended things with the final two goals to take an eight point victory back to Harrogate, Tennessee. The Trailblazers finished the day with a total of twenty-four shots with sixteen on goal. On a positive note, NGU led the afternoon in draw controls with fifteen.

Kylie Keen posted three goals as well as four draw controls. Kami Straub provided North Greenville's only assist while also recording three draw controls and a ground ball. Tori Smith provided eight saves.

NGU will return to action on Wednesday, February 19th to open up conference play against the Lions of Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs, Georgia.
