Charlotte, NC- The Trailblazers took a trip up to Charlotte for the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens University at the famous McAlpine Creek Park cross country course. In the Women's Gold 5k race, the women finished 12
th and were the top finishing Conference Carolinas team in the stacked field.
Crossing the line first for the Trailblazers in 31
st place was sophomore
Ellie Timmons with a time of 18:20. Next, junior
Riley Shope finished 64
th and ran 18:56, a new cross country personal best. The third Trailblazer finisher in 73
rd was junior
Addison Martin with a 36-second lifetime personal best of 19:05. The Fourth Trailblazer finisher was freshman
Mandi Pollard in 101
st with a time of 19:34. Rounding out the top five was senior
Paris Alsup in 109
th, with a cross country personal best of 19:40. Other notable performances include senior
Michaela Lanier and sophomore Lydia Gray, who both ran massive lifetime personal bests of 20:08 and 20:36, respectively.
The Trailblazers will take the next two weeks to focus on training and taper before heading to the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships in Kernersville, North Carolina on Friday, October 24
th.
