Charlotte, NC- The Trailblazers took a trip up to Charlotte for the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens University at the famous McAlpine Creek Park cross country course. In the Men's Gold 8k race, the men finished 16
th in the stacked field.
Crossing the line first for the Trailblazers was junior
Joel Herman, who finished in 65
th and ran a massive lifetime personal best of 26:08. Not far behind him was junior Chas Brewer, who finished in 73
rd and ran 26:14, a personal best of over a minute. Next to cross the line in 99
th was freshman
Josiah Ashton in 26:43, nearly a two-minute personal best. Finishing fourth for the Trailblazers in 125
th was junior
Kai Johnson in 27:27, a massive personal best for him. Rounding out the top five for the Trailblazers was freshman
Joseph McBride in 137
th, who ran 27:58. Other notable races include those of junior
Dominique Cox and freshman
Brady Chavis, who ran massive personal bests of 28:07 and 29:48, respectively.
The Trailblazers will take the next two weeks to focus on training and taper before heading to the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships in Kernersville, North Carolina on Friday, October 24
th.
