North Greenville Splits Day to Open Up 2024 Season

The North Greenville Trailblazers opened up the 2024 season by splitting a pair of matches in the Redderson Invitational in Greenwood, South Carolina, defeating the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University with a score of 3-0 then dropping a five set thriller to the Bearcats of Lander University with a final score of 3-2. 

NGU thoroughly dominated the opening match of the season, winning all three sets with scores of 25-9, 25-17, and 25-11. The Trailblazers finished with an impressive .393 attack percentage while holding Clark Atlanta to a .000 percentage. North Greenville thoroughly led the way in kills, aces, blocks, assists, and digs.

The Trailblazers returned to action against the Bearcats. All five sets were required to settle the contest as Lander took the opening set 25-19 and NGU responded with a 25-22 set two win and a 27-25 set three win. The Bearcats bounced back to take set four 25-19 and ultimately took the fifth and final set 15-11. North Greenville finished with a .161 attack percentage while LU posted a .237 percentage. The Trailblazers led in service aces 10-9 but were outperformed in kills, blocks, assists, and digs.

Anna Fiddelke put together an impressive day, finishing with twenty-two kills along with four solo blocks and four block assists. Samantha Ball posted twenty-one kills, fourteen digs and eight service aces. Allison Ball provided thirty-four assists, nine digs, and two service aces.

North Greenville returns to action tomorrow with another pair of matches in the Redderson Invitational
