The North Greenville Crusaders faced a difficult day in day one of the Lee Invitational, falling to the Flames of Lee University with a score of 3-0 then dropping the second match of the day to the Eagles of Embry-Riddle with a score of 3-0 in Cleveland, Tennessee. NGU put together a match hitting percentage of .234 against the Flames, but Lee was able to finished with a .312 hitting percentage for the match including a .432 percentage in set three. The Trailblazers dropped set one, 25-22, set two 25-20, and set three 25-17 and finished the match trailing in kills, aces, blocks, and digs while tying the Flames in assists. Match two for North Greenville began with a struggle in set one as the Trailblazers finished with a .04 attack percentage and dropped the opening set 25-16. Both teams struggled with their attack in set two, but NGU would ultimately fall short as Embry-Riddle was able to pull ahead in extra points to take the set 27-25. The struggles continued for North Greenville in set three as a .077 hitting percentage led to a 25-17 set loss to clinch the match for the Eagles. NGU finished the match with a hitting percentage of just .060 and trailed in kills, aces, assists, and digs while leading in total blocks 10-7.
Peyton Taylor put together a strong afternoon, recording sixteen kills, thirteen digs, three service aces, and a block assist.
Nicole Santiago posted fourteen kills, three digs, and two block assists.
Anna Fiddelke finished with fourteen kills, three block assists, two digs, a solo block, and a service ace.
North Greenville will try to bounce back tomorrow in day two of the Lee Invitational in Cleveland, Tennessee.
