Bryce Roddey Hits For Cycle as NGU Eliminates Emmanuel in Conference Carolinas Tournament

Gastonia, NC - The North Greenville Crusaders remain alive and well in the Conference Carolinas Tournament after a thriller that required extra innings resulted in a 13-10 victory for NGU. Bryce Roddey made history by hitting for the cycle, recording a double in the 1st, a home run in the 3rd, a triple in the 6th, and a single in the 10th. The cycle in North Greenville's first since Connor Grant hit for one on March 29, 2017. NGU was able to get off to the strong start to begin the game, posting five runs in the 1st including a two-run home run by David Lewis and a two-run double by Bryce Roddey. However, that lead wouldn't last long as Emmanuel put together a big inning in the 2nd, scoring seven runs. North Greenville would bounce back to tie the game in the 3rd as Bryce Roddey hit a home run and Kaleb Hall hit an RBI single. NGU would extend the lead with two runs in the 5th by way of RBIs from Kaleb Hall and Landon Shaw. Pat Monteith would collect an RBI of his own in the 6th to increase the lead to three, but Emmanuel would cut the deficit back down to one with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Lions would go on to even up the score with an RBI single in the 8th. The game would go on to require extra innings, where the Crusaders would get three runs on the board by way of an RBI single by Landon Peavy and a two-RBI single by David Lewis. Ian Squires would close things out, pitching a scoreless bottom of the 10th to earn the save and secure the win for NGU. Nate Roof was the winning pitcher.

Bryce Rodder put together a historical performance, hitting for the cycle and also posting 3 runs and 3 RBIs. Kaleb Hall also posted a 4-hit performance while also recording 2 RBIs and a run. David Lewis finished his day with 3 hits including a double as well as 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

NGU will return to action tomorrow with a scheduled start time of 12:00 PM.
