Duncan, S.C. – North Greenville continued on in the winner's bracket Friday afternoon after cruising past fourth seeded Mount Olive 12 – 4 on day two of the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
The Crusaders scored four runs in the second inning with a trio of two – rbi hits including a single from
Ali Hartin that plated a pair of runs.
Karley Green and
Ansley Fowler also accounted for a run scoring hit to give North Greenville a 4 – 0 lead.
North Greenville delivered the biggest blow of the game in the third inning with six runs on the power of two home runs.
Maddie Stone delivered a two – run bomb while
Lexie Gunter provided the big blow with a grand slam. It was Gunter's seventh homerun of the season and extended NGU's lead to 10 – 0.
Defensively, NGU pitching held the league's highest scoring offense to just four – runs over six innings, three runs under the Trojans' average scoring total.
Karley Green earned the win, throwing 4.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven.
Sydney Clark finished the final 1.2 innings allowing just one hit while recording two strikeouts.
North Greenville finished the day with 10 – hits led by
Maddie Stone who was 2 – 3 with a pair of home runs.
Karley Green finished 2 – 3 with two runs and a pair of RBi.
Next Up
The Crusaders will play #1 seeded Francis Marion tomorrow afternoon. The winner advances to the Championship series.
