Duncan, S.C. – North Greenville's 2024 season came to a close on Saturday with a pair of losses to 8 – 0 and 6 – 3 to Francis Marion and Emmanuel at the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
The Crusaders were on the wrong end of a big inning in game one as Francis Marion plated seven runs on six hits to put North Greenville in an early hole. NGU pitching held the Patriots to just one run in the final four innings but the Crusaders were unable to plate any runs leading to a run-rule win for FMU.
North Greenville finished with just two hits in the first game while allowing 10. Both of NGU's hits in the loss to FMU were from
Emily Blackwell who finished 2 – 2.
North Greenville faced another big decifit in game two as the Lions scored five runs in the third inning to take the lead. The runs came on five hits from the Lions with the aide of one North Greenville error.
The Crusaders answered back with a trio of runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Emily Dawson had an RBI single while
Lexis Wilkinson delivered a two RBI single to cut the deficit to two. The Lions added a run in the sixth while holding NGU scoreless in the final four innings to eliminate the Crusaders and advance to the championship.
Three different players had two hits for North Greenville including
Lexie Gunter,
Virginia Bishop and
Karley Green.
