NGU completed the sweep of the Chowan Hawks this afternoon in Murfreesboro, North Carolina with a game one score of 11-1 and a game two score of 13-4. Started
Reece Fields and
Nate Lamb both recorded wins as the Crusaders pulled ahead early on and easily held onto the lead. Game on began with four straight innings that resulted in a run or more for North Greenville.
David Lewis got things going with a solo home run in the 1st. He would later homer again in the 4th, this time bringing in a second run. After two scoreless innings, NGU would put together two insurance runs in the 7th with an RBI double by
Zach Cowart and a wild pitch that allowed Cowart to score. Like yesterday, the Hawks would put up a run in the final inning to end the shutout, but the
Kadan Roach would go on to record the final out to secure the one-sided win. North Greenville once again pulled away early in the early innings, scoring two runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd innings and putting up five more runs in the 4th including a home run by
Jake Sears. After NGU scored another run in the 5th, Chowan would get on the board in the bottom of the inning with four runs. Colin Fowler would score an insurance run by way of a sacrifice fly in the 8th as
Nate Roof would pitch a scoreless 9th to end things.
David Lewis collected 4 hits including 2 home runs and 2 doubles as well as 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Kaleb Hall also posted 4 hits as well as 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.
Pat Monteith recorded 4 runs as well, and also finished with 4 runs scored, 3 RBIs, and 3 walks.
North Greenville will take on the Bobcats of Georgia College and State University on Tuesday, April 23rd in Milledgeville, Georgia.
