NGU Completes Sweep of Southern Wesleyan

North Greenville put together a successful afternoon in Central, South Carolina by completing a sweep of the Southern Wesleyan Warriors with a game one score of 11-0 and a game two score of 9-8. After a two-run home run by Virginia Bishop put North Greenville on the board in the 1st, the Crusaders would then continue to pull away by scoring three runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings. Karley Green would go on to pitch a complete game shutout as the run rule would end the game in five innings. Game two proved to be more competitive, starting with two runs in the 1st by NGU including an RBI triple by Ansley Fowler. SWU evened things up with a run in both the 1st and 2nd innings. A two run 3rd inning by NGU was responded with a two run 4th inning by Southern Wesleyan. Maddie Stone put the Crusaders back up in the 5th with a two-RBI single. Virginia Bishop would add two more runs to the board in the 6th with an RBI double that resulted in her scoring as well due to an error. However, the Warriors were able to overcome the deficit with four runs in the bottom of the 6th. Lexis Wilkinson would put the Crusaders back up in the 7th with an RBI single. Karley Green would record the save by re-entering the game to record the final three outs. Sydney Clark was the winning pitcher.
