The North Greenville Crusaders completed a dominating sweep of the Erskine Flying Fleet with a game one score of 9-0 and a game two score of 17-0 in Due West, South Carolina. Game one began as a pitchers' duel as both starters pitched shutouts going into the 5th inning. However, the game would no longer be scoreless as the Crusaders would strike in the top of the inning, ultimately scoring nine runs including a three-run home run by
Virginia Bishop and another three-run home run by
Maddie Stone.
Karley Green would complete the shutout and record yet another complete game as the game would come to an end in the 5th due to the run rule. Game two began with another scoreless 1st inning, but NGU would put together the big inning in the 2nd with eight runs including a two-run home run by
Emily Dawson and an RBI double by
Emily Blackwell. North Greenville was able to add to the lead in the 3rd, scoring a total of six additional runs including a three-run home run by
Virginia Bishop. After a scoreless 4th inning, the Crusaders ended the day with three runs in the 5th including an RBI double by
Emily Dawson.
Sydney Clark would go on to pitch a complete game shutout.
Virginia Bishop finished a productive day with 3 hits including 2 home runs as well as 6 RBIs, 3 runs scored, and a walk.
Emily Blackwell recorded 5 hits including 3 doubles in addition to 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored.
Karley Green and
Sydney Clark both pitched complete game shutouts.
NGU will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, April 20th against the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College at Jan McDonald Field.
