North Greenville Hangs on to Early Lead in Win Over UNC Pembroke

The North Greenville Crusaders began the weekend series against the Braves of UNC Pembroke with a 9-5 victory in Pembroke, North Carolina. NGU took an early lead with a five run 2nd inning that included a two-run double by Landon Shaw as well as a solo home run by Dakota Britt. Both teams would score three runs in the 4th inning. The Braves closed the deficit to four with a solo home run, but NGU would get the run back in the 8th by way of an RBI single by Kaleb Hall. UNCP would get one more run on the board in the bottom of the 9th, but Dawson Taylor would go on to record the final out for the save. The win improves the 2nd ranked Crusaders to 21-4 overall with a 9-1 record in conference play.

Landon Shaw posted 3 hits including a double as well as 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Dawson Taylor earned the save by pitching 3.0 innings to close out the game, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 4. Dakota Britt recorded 2 hits including a home run as well as 2 runs scored, 2 walks, and an RBI.

The series will continue tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM in Pembroke, North Carolina.
