Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders completed a sweep of the Emmanuel Lions this afternoon at Jan McDonald Field with final scores of 3-1 and 7-2.
Karley Green pitched all but 2.1 innings throughout the day, collecting both wins. After two scoreless innings to start off the day, NGU would score the first run of the day by way of an RBI on a fielder's choice. North Greenville then added to the lead with an RBI single by
Karley Green and an RBI single by
Maddie Stone. Emmanuel would get some momentum going by getting on the board with an RBI single in the 7th, but
Karley Green was able to record the final out to secure the win. The Crusaders began game two with a run in the 1st. Although the Lions tied things up the 2nd and even took the lead with a run in the 4th, NGU would pull away in the 4th with six runs including RBI singles by
Karley Green and
Ansley Fowler. Green would continue to cruise throughout the remainder of the game, earning the win and completing the sweep on the mound.
Karley Green recorded both wins, pitching 11.2 innings. She allowed just 2 runs on 11 hits and 2 walks while striking out 9.
Ansley Fowler posted 4 hits including a double, 2 runs scored, and an RBI.
Lexie Gunter recorded 2 hits including a double as well as 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and an RBI.
NGU will return to action on Saturday, March 16th against the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
