Hickory, N.C. – North Greenville scored 11 – runs in the first two innings on Wednesday, handing Lenoir-Rhyne its first loss of the season in a 13 – 5 decision.
North Greenville scored six runs in the top of the first frame on five hits.
Jax Cash delivered an RBI single while
Thomas Powell delivered a pair of RBI.
Cash came up big for the Crusaders in the second inning as well, delivering an RBI double.
Zach Cowart got in on the action with an RBI single while
Pat Monteith tacked on an RBI with an infield single.
Cowart came up big for North Greenville in the fourth inning, delivering a two RBI triple to extend NGU's lead to 13 - 2.
North Greenville pitching held the LR lineup to five runs on just eight hits through 9 – innings. The Bears scored a pair of runs in the home half of the first inning and tacked on three more in the sixth.
Connor Brinson was credited with the win after throwing two scoreless innings of one-hit baseball.
NGU Pitching combined for nine strikeouts during the non-conference win.
Zach Coward led North Greenville with three hits and three RBI. He also scored a pair of runs. Four players had two hits each including
Pat Monteith,
Jax Cash, and
Dakota Britt who had two hits and a pair of RBI.
