Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders completed the sweep of the King University Tornado on a windy afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. After the Crusaders took the opener yesterday, the two teams played in two competitive games with one resulting in a walk-off home run. Game one began with an early Crusader lead as
David Lewis knocked in three with a home run to left center field. NGU would get another run across in the bottom of the second by way of an RBI fielder's choice by
Zach Cowart. After the Tornado were able to get on the board in the top of the 4th, the Crusaders responded with a two-RBI double by
Pat Monteith. King would get one last run across in the 6th, but the Crusaders would easily hang on for a four point victory.
Jake Monroe received the win while
Connor Brinson and
Dawson Taylor made relief appearances. Game two of the day began as a pitchers' dual as the first three innings of the game went scoreless. However, it would be King to get on the board first with a two-run home run in the 4th inning. After a scoreless 5th, NGU came back to tie things up with two runs including a sacrifice fly by
David Lewis. With the two teams going scoreless in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings, extra innings would be required. In the bottom of the 10th,
Landon Peavy took care of business with a lead-off walk-off home run.
Nate Roof was the winning pitcher.
Thomas Powell posted a total of 5 hits and 2 runs scored.
David Lewis finished the day with a home run, 4 RBIs, and a run scored.
