The North Greenville Crusaders returned to a .500 record this afternoon in Hartsville, South Carolina with a sweep of the Cobras of Coker University. Game one was controlled by the Crusaders, who started things off with a four runs lead and never gave it up. Leading 7-4 in the 5th,
Maddie Stone would cap off the scoring with a grand slam.
Karley Green recorded yet another complete game and received the win. Coker led for the majority of game two as the game was closely contested. With NGU holding a one run lead going into the 7th,
Maddie Stone would homer again to give NGU an insurance run, which would prove to be important as the Cobras were able to score a run of their own in the inning.
Sydney Clark was deemed the winning pitcher while
Karley Green recorded the save, her first of the season.
Maddie Stone posted 4 hits including 2 home runs and a total of 8 RBIs.
Emily Blackwell finished with 6 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs.
Karley Green pitched a complete game to receive her 5th win of the season, pitching 7.0 innings allowing just 2 earned runs on 6 hits and 5 walks while striking out 7. She also pitched 1.2 innings in game two to earn the save.
NGU returns to action on Tuesday, February 20th against the Lions of Mars Hill University at Jan McDonald Field.
