Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders put together a total of 27 runs to complete the weekend series sweep against the Eagles of Post University at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. In a game that lasted over four hours, NGU finished the day with 25 hits and 14 walks. Post took an early lead in the second inning, but NGU would get on the board with four runs in the 3rd inning including a grand slam by
Thomas Powell. After the Crusaders added a run in the 4th, Post was able to tie things back up with two runs in both the 5th and 6th innings. However, the Crusaders responded with six runs in the bottom of the 6th including an RBI triple by
David Lewis. The Eagles put up a run in the 7th, but North Greenville would end any doubt with seven runs in the bottom of the inning and nine runs in the 8th. Post ended things with four runs in the 9th, but
Jackson Edwards would eventually retire the final batter to secure the win.
Brent Stukes received the win on the mound.
Thomas Powell was dominant at the plate, recording 4 hits including a grand slam. He finished with 7 RBIs, 4 runs, and a walk.
Landon Peavy also collected 4 hits along with 4 runs scored, an RBI, and a walk.
Pat Monteith recorded 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, and 2 walks.
NGU returns to action on Tuesday, February 20th against the Wolves of Newberry College at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
