Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders ended the week with two 3-1 victories, first in conference play against the Francis Marion Patriots then against the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears this afternoon at Hayes Gymnasium. NGU was consistent in the first matchup, dropping the first set but handing FMU in the next three. Lenoir-Rhyne dominated the second match in blocks, but the Crusaders were able to narrowly take sets one, three, and four to secure the win.
After dropping the opening set in match one 27-25, NGU was able to recover and take the next three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-12. North Greenville finished the match with a .349 attack percentage and led in kills, blocks, assists, and digs while tying the Patriots in service aces. Match two saw NGU take the opening set 25-23 but drop set two 27-25. In two more closely contested sets, NGU was narrowly able to take them both with scores of 30-28 and 25-23. NGU finished with a .195 attack percentage and led in kills, assists, and digs while trailing the match in blocks and tying the Bears with seven service aces.
Abigail Durham finished the afternoon with 45 total kills along with 18 digs, five block assists, and three service aces.
Samantha Ball finished her day with 30 kills, 36 digs, and two block assists.Â
Elena Dyer also had two solid outings, posting 28 kills, 11 digs, and 3 block assists.
NGU will return to action on Tuesday, September 26 against the Erskine Flying Fleet at Hayes Gymnasium.
