Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders clinched this weekend's conference series with 5-1 and 8-1 victories against the Hawks of Chowan University this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. Game one saw the Crusaders pull away throughout the game with a run in the second, two runs in the third including an RBI double by
Carter Dierdorf, and two additional runs int he sixth including an RBI double by John Michael Faile. The Hawks would get on the board with an RBI walk in the ninth inning, but after allowing the walk
Cooper Sain would record the final out to keep the Crusaders on top.
Noah Takac pitched 5.0 scoreless innings and received the win. NGU was able to get on the board quickly in game two thanks to a leadoff home run by
Pat Monteith. The Hawks would tie things up in the top of the second, but North Greenville would reclaim the lead in the fourth with an RBI groundout by
Kaleb Hall and an RBI bunt single by
Landon Shaw. The bottom of the sixth would be the big inning of the day. After
Pat Monteith was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in a run,
Marek Chlup would bring all the runners in including himself with a grand slam to left center field.
Brody Fowler pitched 5.0 strong innings as the starter and took the win while
Caleb Cox earned the save.
