Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders stunned the Lions of Emmanuel College this afternoon at Jan McDonald Field, sweeping Emmanuel with final scores of 8-7 and 6-1. Game one proved to be a thriller as the game featured five lead changes. NGU took the lead early on with a run in the second and another in the third. Emmanuel would get on the board and take the lead with three runs in the fourth. The Crusaders responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. However, the Lions kept the scoring going with four runs in the fifth inning. Down by one and down to their last out, a
Virginia Bishop walk would get
Ali Hartin to the plate, who tied the game with an RBI double to center field. That would be followed by a wild pitch that allowed the winning run to score.
Ali Hartin was the winning pitcher. Game two was thoroughly controlled by the Crusaders, who took the lead early with a run in the bottom of the first. NGU would slowly add to the lead with two runs in the third, a run in the fifth, and two final runs in the sixth including solo home runs by
Ali Hartin and
Maddie Stone. Emmanuel would get their only run on the board in the seventh, but
Karley Green would go on to pitch the complete game and earn the win.
