North Greenville started a weekend conference series with a dominant 17-2 victory against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders this afternoon in Belmont, North Carolina. NGU was able to get on the board early with a three run home run by John Michael Faile followed with a solo shot by
Pat Monteith to total four runs in the first inning. The next three would go scoreless, but the Crusaders would then get the scoring going once again with solo home runs by
Pat Monteith and
Marek Chlup in the fourth. North Greenville would pull away further in the fifth with six runs. After an RBI double by
Cory Bivins in the sixth, John Michael Faile would hit his second home run of the game to put three more runs on the board. Belmont Abbey would get on the board with two runs in the seventh, but NGU would respond in the top of the eighth with one last run.
Reece Fields pitched the first 5.0 innings and earned the win.
