Belmont, N.C. – North Greenville swept Belmont Abbey on Saturday in a Conference Carolinas double-header 8 – 0 and 9 – 0.
North Greenville pitching allowed five hits combined on Saturday while the Crusaders strung together 22 – hits to score 17 – runs in one of the best showings of the season for NGU.
Game One
The Crusaders set the tone early in game one scoring four runs in the first two innings.
Brianna McRae recorded a pair of RBI along with
Jenna Davis in the game one route.
Maddie Stone extended the lead to six runs with a two – run blast in the third inning. McRae added her third RBI of the game later in the frame to extend the lead to 7 – 0.
Ali Hartin delivered the eighth and final run of the game with a solo homer in the fourth inning.
Karley Green earned the win in game one after throwing 3.1 – innings of shutout ball. She allowed just two hits and struck out four.
Maddie Gore and
Sydney Clark also added to the shutout, holding the Abbey hitters hitless in the final 2.2 innings.
Individual
- Lexis Wilkinson was 3 – 4 with a pair of runs scored.
- McRae finished 2 – 2 with three RBI.
- Ali Hartin scored two runs and had an RBI with a pair of hits.
- Madison Pride was 2 – 3 with two runs scored.
Game Two
Game two was scoreless until the third inning when
Karley Green put North Greenville up by four with her 10
th homer of the season, a grand slam over the left center wall.
Maddie Stone added her second homer of the day in the fourth inning with a two run dinger that extended NGU's lead to 6 – 0.
Ali Hartin then delivered her own homer in the fifth inning with a three – run blast to left field.
Green earned her second win of the day by shutting down the BAC bats, once again allowing just two hits.
Maddie Gore threw a scoreless inning in game two as NGU run-ruled the Crusaders.
Individual
- Green was 1 – 3 at the plate with four RBI and a pair of runs scored.
- McRae was 2 – 2 with two runs.
- Ali Hartin finished 3 – 3 with a run scored.
