North Greenville began this weekend's conference series with a 16-7 victory over the Emmanuel Lions this afternoon in Franklin Springs, Georgia. The NGU offense was able to consistently put runs on the board as the Crusaders would only post scoreless innings in the first and ninth innings, scoring at least one run in innings two through eight. The Lions were able to get on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first, but North Greenville would take its first lead in the third inning and never look back. Down by eight, Emmanuel cut their deficit down by half with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. However, NGU would respond with four runs of their own in the top of the seventh to open the lead back up to eight. The Crusaders scored one more insurance run in the top of the eighth.
Kyler Odom pitchced the final two innings to seal the deal for NGU.
Caleb Cox pitched the opening four innings and was credited with the win. Errors proved to be an issue for both teams as the Crusaders were charged with four while the Lions committed seven of their own.
