NGU Completes Sweep with Win Against King

The top-ranked North Greenville Crusaders finished off the weekend with a 6-3 victory over the Tornado of King University to complete the conference sweep this afternoon in Bristol, Tennessee. The first four innings of the game went scoreless due to strong pitching from both starters, but NGU was able to get on the board in the fifth thanks to a solo home run by Marek Chlup. The Crusaders would then add to the board with two runs in the seventh by way of Pat Monteith and John Michael Faile sacrifice fly balls. Two more insurance runs for NGU would give the Crusaders a 5-0 lead with a two run triple by Cory Bivins. King did put up a fight with three runs in the bottom of the eighth, but an insurance run by David Lewis followed by a relatively easy inning by Michael Rodriguez to earn the save kept NGU on top to complete the sweep. Caleb Freeman, who pitched the first 5.0 innings was the winning pitcher. David Lewis has his on-base streak come to an end. He reached base in all 25 games coming into today's game.
