The North Greenville Crusaders began the 2023 season on a solid note, dominating the 13th ranked Mules of the University of Central Missouri with a final score of 12-1 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. NGU finished the game with twelve runs, eleven hits, and two errors while UCM posted one run, five hits, and four errors. North Greenville was able to put the game on ice quickly after a scoreless first inning, scoring two runs in the second, six in the third, three in the fourth, and one more in the fifth. The Mules' lone run came in the fourth inning by way of a home run.
Reece Fields took the mound for the opening day start, and recorded the win.
