Tigerville, SC - North Greenville put together a dominant victory against the Mars Hill Lions with a final score of 21-7 this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. With the win, North Greenville improves to a 14-1 overall record. Mars Hill was the first team on the board with two runs in the top of the first inning. NGU would respond with a solo shot by
Pat Monteith, then run away with a six run second inning and a four run third inning. After a scoreless fourth inning, the Lions socred three runs in the fifth. However, North Greenville would get the runs back then some in the bottom of the inning, scoring five runs. NGU would respond once again after Mars Hill scored two runs in the seventh, this time with
Zach Cowart and
Kaleb Hall hitting their first collegiate home runs.
Darrien Whitaker would cap off the scoring in the eighth with a sacrifice fly.
Carter Dierdorf, who pitched the third and fourth innings, was the winning pitcher.
