North Greenville Suffers Sweep Against Newberry

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders fell twice to the Wolves of Newberry College on a cloudy afternoon at Jan McDonald Field with a game one final score of 13-1 and a game two final score of 9-6. After two scoreless innings, the Wolves were able to get on the scoreboard with five runs including a three run home run. NGU would get on the board in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single by Ansley Fowler, but Newberry would go on to run rule the Crusaders with a run in the fifth and seven runs in the sixth. Starting pitcher Karley Green received the loss. Game two began with a run by the Wolves. NGU tied things back up when Maddie Stone homered. Newberry regained the lead with three runs in the fourth and another run in the fifth. However, North Greenville would pull back within one with three runs in the bottom of the third including an RBI double by Karley Green. Brianna McRae scored the tying run in the seventh by way of a sacrifice fly to send the game to extra innings. NBY would open up the lead in the top of the ninth and go on to win. Karley Green, who pitched the final 2.2 innings was the losing pitcher.
