North Greenville Swept by Lander

The North Greenville Crusaders suffered a sweep by the Bearcats of Lander University with a game one final score of 8-0 and a game two final score of 8-7 this afternoon in Greenwood, South Carolina. Karley Green took the mound for the start in game one, but would make it just one out into the game before being relieved by Ali Hartin. Lander would take a big lead with five runs in the first and three additional runs in the second. A strong pitching performance by Hayley  Lawling kept the score the same until the fifth, but although NGU matched the Bearcats in hits with a total of six they were unable to get any runs on the board as Lander would end the game early by way of the run rule. Game two began with four runs by NGU. However, the Bearcats would respond with all of their eight runs in the bottom of the first. After four scoreless innings, the Crusaders would put up a fight in the sixth inning including a two run home run by Brianna McRae to put NGU back within one. However, the Bearcats would ultimately hang on for the win. Sydney Clark was charged with the loss.
