Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders found themselves in danger of falling for the first time this season but ultimately came through to win both of today's games against the Choctaws of Mississippi College with final scores of 12-11 and 3-1 this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. Six homeruns were hit throughout game one including a grand slam by the Choctaws that put MC up 9-5 in the fourth. Mississippi College continued to lead by a comfortable margin going into the bottom of the ninth. However, the Crusaders put up a fight with two singles, two walks, and a hit by pitch to score two runs and load the bases for John Michael Faile, who would win the game in dramatic fashion with a walk-off bases-clearing double to clinch the series for NGU. Scoring gave way to pitching in the final game of the series as strong appearances on the mound would result in just one run and one hit allowed by North Greenville. The Crusaders took the lead with a run in the fourth before scoring two additional runs in the fifth. Mississippi College would get on the board with a solo shot to left field, but that would go on to be the Choctaws' only run and hit of the game as North Greenville pitching would shut down MC.
Michael Rodriguez and
Brody Fowler were the winning pitchers as
Dawson Taylor earned his first save of the season.
