Tigerville, SC - North Greenville began its weekend series against the Choctaws of Mississippi College with a 13-7 victory at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. The Crusaders ran into some trouble early as starter
Reece Fields took the mound. MC would take an early lead with a run in the first and would add to it with two runs in the third. The Crusaders would get on the board with a solo home run by
Pat Monteith in the fourth. NGU would get the runs going in the fifth as a bases-clearing double by
Carter Dierdorf put NGU ahead for the first time in the game. The Choctaws would quickly take the lead back with three runs in the sixth, but NGU would put together a repeat performance with five more runs in the sixth that was capped off by a John Michael Faile grand slam. Faile would give NGU two insurance runs in the eighth inning with a two-run single. Mississippi College would plate on run in the ninth, but that would be all as the Crusaders would hang on for the win to open up the weekend.
