Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders fell short in all three sets this afternoon at Hayes Gymnasium, falling to the University of Mount Olive Trojans with a score of 3-0. NGU held an 18-14 lead after a five point run in set one, but Mount Olive would come back to force extra points and eventually come back to win the set 27-25. Set two went back and forth throughout, with neither team scoring more than three consecutive points. Although NGU remained within striking distance, they would run out of time as Mount Olive would go on to win the set 25-22. After an even start to the third set, North Greenville would put together a 5-1 run to lead 8-6. With the score tied at 14-14, UMO would take over the momentum by putting together a 10-3 run to lead 24-17. The Crusaders put up one last fight with a three point run, but Mount Olive would close things out with a kill for a 25-20 set win.
Elena Dyer led North Greenville with 9 kills, 29 total attacks, and 4 block assists.
Kelli Davis put together an impressive performance, finishing with 7 kills, 2 block assists, 2 digs, a service ace, and an assist. She did not post a single attack error.
Ashlyn Conner provided 29 assists and 9 digs.
North Greenville will face the Southern Wesleyan Warriors on Wednesday, October 18th in Central, South Carolina.
