Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders came through in their final home game of the regular season with a 10-7 victory over the Indians of Catawba College at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. Things got off to a rought start for North Greenville as starting pitcher
Reece Fields would uncharacteristically allow five runs on six hits and a hit by pitch, and would last just two outs into the game before being relieved by
Nathan Barolet. However, the Crusaders would quickly erase most of the deficit with four runs of their own including an RBI double down the left field line by
Marek Chlup. After five scoreless innings as well as a twenty minute sun delay, NGU would take the lead with a six run bottom of the 6th including another double by Chlup, this time bringing in two runs.
Pat Monteith would score the sixth run of the inning with an RBI double of his own. Catawba fought back with two runs in the 7th to cut their deficit down to three, but
Brent Herlong and
Nate Roof closed things out without allowing another run with Herlong receiving the win and
Nate Roof earning his first save of the season.
