Gregory Torres dished out 10-kills and North Greenville finished with 12-block assists in a 3 – 0 route of Belmont Abbey on Senior Day in Hayes Gymnasium.
The Crusaders set the tone in the first set wining by 13-points. A 7 – 6 lead quickly ballooned to to eight when a Torres kill made it 17 – 9 . North Greenville scored four straight later in the match including a kill from
Michael de la Cruz to earn the 25 – 12 victory.
Abbey led by as many as three in the third set. North Greenville evened it up and regained the lead on a pair of attack errors and a kill from
Brandon Baker, giving the Crusaders an 18 – 16 lead. de la Cruz came up big for NGU later in the set with a pair of service aces (23 – 20). BAC answered with back-to-back scores but handed North Greenville a point with a service error.
Diego Rosich put the finishing touches on the second set with a kill, finalizing a 25 – 22 win.
A 25 – 15 win in set three completed the sweep, keeping the Crusaders atop the Conference Carolinas standings. North Greenville scored eight of the last ten points in the final frame to improve to 16 – 5 overall and 10 – 2 in league play.
Sergio Carillo led all players with 31-assists and had seven digs. de la Cruz finished the day with five kills and led the team with four assisted blocks. He also had a game high five service aces.
