North Greenville defeated the Nighthawks of the University of North Georgia with a final score of 6-3 this afternoon in Dahlonega, Georgia. NGU posted a total of thirteen hits throughout the game while holding the Nighthawks to just five. Both teams drew three walks each. The Crusaders took an early lead with three runs in the 2nd inning including an RBI double by
Gehrig Octavio. After UNG was able to get on the board with a run in the 4th, NGU put together another multi-run inning with two runs in the 5th with one of them scoring off a double by
John Michael Faile.
Cory Bivins would drive in a run in the top of the 6th to put North Greenville up 6-1. North Georgia would hit two home runs late in the game, but the Crusaders would keep the Nighthawks off the board in the 8th and 9th innings to preserve the win.
