Wilson, N.C. – North Greenville led for much of Saturday's game versus Barton but the offense stalled late while the Bulldogs put together a late rally to down the Crusaders 11 – 10.
North Greenville led 7 – 4 after two periods.
Dani O'Meara led North Greenville with three first half scores along with a pair of scores from
Emma Mayew. O'Meara finished the day as the leading scorer with four goals.
The Bulldogs cut North Greenville's lead by one goal in the third period with three scores.
Erin Wheaton and Katelyn O'Brien answered with back-to-back scores which made it 9 – 7 heading in to the final quarter.
The Bulldogs saved their best quarter for last, rattling off four unanswered scores to take an 11 – 9 lead with 7-minutes left in the game. Barton finished the third frame with a goal earlier in the game to make it a total of five unanswered scores.
North Greenville pulled to within one of the Bulldogs when O'Meara scored with 4-minutes left in the game. The crusaders had two more chances to even it up with a pair of shots from
Emma Mayew but the Bulldogs held NGU scoreless the remaining four minutes to earn the league win.
McKenna Kess had 17 – saves in the net for North Greenville.
Kira Hearns had three groundballs.
Ashley Thatcher also had a score for the Crusaders.
