NGU Begins Conference Play With Sweep of Southern Wesleyan

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders began conference play with 9-6 and 14-5 victories over the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University this afternoon at Jan McDonald Field. North Greenville put together another productive day at the plate, recording twenty-four hits in the two games while also drawing seventeen walks. NGU trailed for the majority of game one but fought back late in the game with eight unanswered runs including a walk-off three-run home run by Virginia Bishop. Game two also saw the Crusaders trail in the 1st inning, but they quickly responded to take the lead and went on to pull away with nine unanswered runs. SWU would eventually get their offense going, scoring five runs in the top of the 4th, but the Crusaders would respond with five runs in the bottom of the inning to eventually end the game early due to the run rule. Bailey Pace and Hailey Wells were the winning pitchers.

  • Bailey Pace pitched a strong 5.1 innings, allowing just two runs on five hits, two hit batters, and a walk.
