Tigerville, SC - North Greenville clinched the weekend conference series against Belmont Abbey College to win the 'Battle of the Crusaders' with an 8-1 victory in game one of the doubleheader on a very windy day at Ray and Bea Dillard Field. Belmont Abbey won the series finale with a final score of 4-2.
Reece Fields pitched a complete game in game one to earn his fourth win of the year.
Pat Monteith put up the only extra base hit of the game, a solo home run to left field in the 2nd inning. Up 4-0, North Greenville would put the game on ice in the 6th inning with four insurance runs.
Matthew Taubensee took the mound to start game two, but would run into trouble as Belmont Abbey would take the lead with three runs in the 2nd and another run in the 3rd. NGU would respond with a run in the bottom of the 3rd and one more run in the 7th, but Belmont Abbey would hang on to salvage the win.
