Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders put up a dominant performance in a sweep of a nonconference doubleheader against Bluefield State College at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. NGU took game one with a final score of 9-2, then followed that up by completely dominating the second game with a final score of 18-3, which included a grand slam by
John Michael Faile.
Kyle Barnowski and
Seth Chestnut collected their first wins of the season as limited starters. The Crusaders quickly pulled away in game one, scoring at least one run in the first four innings including a home run by
Pat Monteith in the 3rd. Bluefield State would score the final run of the game, but NGU would comfortably take a seven-run lead into the 7th, where
Kaleb Gibson would pitch a 1-2-3 inning. BSC would score first in game two with a solo shot, but NGU would respond with five runs in the bottom of the inning including a three-run home run by
Marek Chlup. North Greenville scored two additional runs in the 2nd and a run in the 3rd. After Bluefield State put an end to the unanswered run streak with one in the top of the 4th, the Crusaders put the game on ice with a nine-run bottom of the 4th that included Faile's grand slam. NGU would score one more run in the 5th as pitching took care of the remainder of the game.
